I'm reading Dune for my book club. At first, I was concerned that it would be too dry in that autistic sci-fi sense, since some midwits told me as such. Not true at all: it's an engaging story that's told well. It's also far less base/pulpy than most SF. From what I've read so far, it's an easy recommendation.

The actual posters on /lit/ are not that type of person. We don't lift, wash or read the books on /lit/ charts.

Nah, dune is trash though, most boring “plot” and “worldbuilding” i have seen, doesn’t help that the characters have the depth of a puddle and are as likeable as punching yourself in the nuts. I dont even like star wars but it is unironically better than dune

I just finished the dinner table chapter in Book I and you're off your rocker. The tension was so thick in that scene, I unconsciously held my breath and didn't let it go until the end. Dr. Kynes has proven to be a fascinating character thus far, and the Bene Gesserit aspect of it all is thrilling.
>Star Wars is better
Pic related.

Dune Messiah is just as good if not better.

I am really glad you're enjoying it. I always held that Dune is unfilmable as a movie and moments like the dinner sequence are exactly why.

Enjoy the book, Anon

Thanks anon. After that scene, I'm now planning to read through God-Emperor per this image's recommendation. I don't quite know what it means by "weird," but if it means themes and symbols with mystical/religious import, it shouldn't be as challenging as it cautions.
