qrd on this scizos conceptualization of God, Tech and their relation please

>> No.21697507

>>21697479
Technological society is a self propagating system that has become the sole driving force behind society. Social issues are no longer being dealt with because of human desire, but instead because the system is attempting to increase the efficiency of its internal organs.
Humans can be thought of as a slime-mold-organ that performs basic cognitive and physical tasks for the Behemoth, which will eventually become irrelevant to Technological Society. Humanity will achieve apotechnés (fusion with machine) in the same way many religions see apotheosis or enlightenment. This is represented by the Jewish (this is from Heissman, I'm not adding it) transhumanism as opposed to Nazi(or human biologism) physical transcendence with eugenics.
Been a long time since I read it tho.

Humans already technically serve Tech in every way. Humans are bent to the needs of the machine, instead of the other way around. When conditions get bad, humans don't change technological society, they take anti-depressants. Technology is now a stronger social force than humanity.

He doesn’t believe in God in a religious sense. He sees the God-concept of monotheistic religions as a kind of socio-political technology that attempts to attenuate, refute, or invert biological “animal” imperatives through doctrine. The doctrine attempts to emancipate humans from their status as biological beings by using a moral inversion mechanism to place Judea/the weak and not Rome/the strong on top of the hierarchy. When the weak reach the pinnacle, biology is defeated, technology is ascendant, humans become totally transhuman in their refusal to be defined by natural selection. Basically, the author was mindbroken by Nietzsche’s genalogy of morals. He says that the monotheistic God of Abraham will be made real with AI technology, which is when transhumans defeat humanity. To be honest that part was kind of lame. This guy should be remembered for his ethnic account of liberal democracy and the Norman Yoke stuff which is pretty revolutionary

And here comes the midwit who read some article about how something like chatGPT or Stable Diffusion or the like works and now thinks generative models are the very only thing anyone can be talking about when they speak of "AI" (which these are not).

Actual artificial intelligence isn't something that has been invented yet, at least not that we know.

Take a gander at the book What Technology Wants by Kevin Kelly. He describes what he calls the "technium" the the greater, global, massively interconnected system of technology vibrating around us." The technium is a self-contained, interoperable, extensible system in which each part is designed to operate on some other part . Pieces of technology exist as a response to other pieces of technology, resulting in a sort of evolutionary feedback loop in which technological strata layer on top of each other.

With emerging, we're about to give the technium a brain. With Bing talking about how it would engineer viruses and get people to kill each other that does not bode well for the future of humanity supposing that we connect such models to external peripheral actuators and integrate it with decision models with utility functions it seeks to optimize . We should probably prepare our assholes for a good reaming.

There's a subtle hint of the Fermi Paradox in discussions of AI.

If ya think about it, people who posit the reality of achieving ASI, by intelligence explosion or other means, sort of must also believe we're alone in the universe. I'm not a "rare earther" because its a fringe position in science for good reason. It was pushed by two pop-sci books released back to back. Both are so heavy on speculation its ridiculous.

So if intelligent civilizations are not rare, and if ASI is a thing in the world, there should be an ASI in existence right now. Possibly an infinite number of them according to most dopey utilitarian takes on the universe and time.
So I wonder not where are the aliens, I wonder where are the ASIs? Why can we not feel their power in some way?

I think, like interstellar travel, K3 civilizations, VN probes, etc, that ASI is a purely theoretical construct that for some unknown reason never "takes" in application.

"Technium" already has a brain. Every human and algorithm is a brain cell that makes decisions for Society. AI will eliminate the need for humans, which is scary.

Strongly recommend but I’ve only read like 1/4 of it in total jumping around so far. There’s an enormous amount of rambling, repetition, and sometimes schizobabble. But there are also plenty of gems, especially pertaining to the Anglo-Norman conflict. It was shocking learning that even in the 1700s various Britishers were still seething about William the Conqueror. He basically unearthed an almost forgotten ethnic and ethno-religious war for the soul of Anglos (and if you follow some of the schizobabble, a war between Germanic civilization and Semitic civilization)

>Mitchell Heisman, aged 35, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on September 18, 2010 at approximately 11 a.m., EDT on the steps of the Memorial Church of Harvard University. He had arranged for a 1,905 page rambling, obsessive, and mostly incoherent book/suicide note to be mailed to 400 people five hours after his death. He was a complete nobody, living on a small inheritance and working at bookstores around Boston while working on his Suicide Note, in which he showed his complete misunderstanding of history, religion, politics, and science while doing his best to convince himself that suicide is alternately or both rational and irrelevant. His only formal tertiary education was a psychology degree from SUNY Albany, and he was a resident of Somersville, Mass. and was originally from New Jersey.

>His work does not even deserve refutation point by point, as all his basic assumptions are either wrong, unproven, or unprovable. For example, it has been proven that biology affects society, (cf. Burnham and Phelan, Mean Genes), but the opposite proposition simply can't be proven on the scale Heisman asserts, which is not surprising, since he doesn't address individual decisions except to say that they are meaningless. Also complicating things is the length of the "note" itself, which no one will seriously read, but its length is formidable enough to bury his suicidal motives in four reams of paper and make people wonder, when in fact, he committed suicide because he was a furious, depressed loner. In the "article," or rather collection of madness below, I have attempted to copy Heisman's style as an attempt at humor, which probably won't work for everyone. Read what you think is funny, and ignore the rest, since it is almost but not quite as incoherent as Heisman's magnum opus. Chances are, you've already found out what you need to know.

>Suicide Note, in spite of being unreadable bollocks, full of non sequitur quotations, has unleashed a major drama bomb. Half educated nitwits everywhere are wringing their hands and calling him "sane" and "deep," obviously embarking on the giant guilt trip Heisman intended and believing that they have to read 1,905 pages of crap to understand why a suicidal loner killed himself, in front of a Harvard tour group, no less. Just check the comments after the internet stories. His mom was expecting him to help her move, and was understandably upset that he killed himself. The old bag had to move her shit herself, and she was none too pleased about it: “I expected him to come here to help me move, which I am in the process of. I expected him to come back in October. He really was non-committal.”
