Assuming the locals were brown and the immigrants were white the whites would turn more brown over time. If a group of them emigrated early enough they would not be as brown as the later descendants of those they left behind.
I don't think there's very convincing evidence about what ancient Hebrews were like but all kinds of theories that sound far fetched on the surface are plausible. The least plausible idea is that the middle east has always looked like it does. It doesn't fit anything or make any sense. Whatever really happened it's something weird, that's how reality is.
