2006 is the first season, while 2009 is the entire show in chronological order, with both seasons all mixed together. Watching the 2009 version is fine, but ideally one is supposed to watch 2006 first, and then 2009 after, meaning you'd actually see the first season twice. It's that kind of show.

Hyperion is unadaptable for one single reason.
The scene of the Colonel fucking a woman and that woman turning into the Shrike attempting to cut off his penis is something normies will never take seriously.
Bringing that sequence to wide audiences will tank the reputation of The Shrike as "that thing that disguised itself as a woman and got fucked" and therefore the reputation of the series as a whole.
