Am I the only one who thinks this series started with some of King's best work and ended with some of his worst?

>> No.2161726

I stopped a few chapters into Song of Susannah. It hurt to keep going.

>> No.2161736

King has always been a desultory writer.

>> No.2161740

I thought the Gunslinger was an amazing novel, but around the The Wizard in Glass the series just turned to shit. If the whole series had been on par with The Gunslinger it would of been an amazing series.

I guess I'm the only one who enjoyed it completely till the end. Even the comic books are decent.

I do think that the TV show / movie will be awful, and I'll probably loose faith and never watch TV or movies again after I watch them.

During the first few books, Stephen King had a spicy boner and hadn't jacked off in like a year. Shit was intense. The first release was amazing. And the next few squirts were great too. But god damnit, he just kept tugging at that thing until it was dry and raw. By the time he got to the last book his dick was a bruised mangled little piece of bacon.

Oh, what a money shot.

>> No.2161869

No I thought it started with some of his worst work and dropped the series after book 1.

The first 90% was really terribly bad, no plot, random action, terrible stuff overall. The last 10% was interesting and it had a good cliffhanger.

op here

hahaha

that's what I thought(about there being no real plot). There wasn't really anything to the first book he's walking around the desert for a bit and then through some dark cave for a while.

But now that I have read 2 of the books and already have the 4th one (my mum got it awhile ago for a present, never read it because she hasnt read the others. Not her type of book any way) I feel compelled to carry on.I like to finish things I have started.

>> No.2161890

It definitely started out much better than it ended.
Book 1-4 = We're going on a quest to save the worlds. We'll see strange things, travel through strange landscapes and encounter friends, foes and weird creatures.
Book 5-7 = Ahhh... we need to get a deed for an empty lot. We'll travel across several streets in New York. We'll encounter a lot of people that have already appeared in other books. Some of them are supposed to be important, so I guess they have to do some important stuff. Oh, and we meet the author himself.

After the accident King's writing took a turn for the worse.
That said, I still really like the ending.

Yeah, kind of, but they cut a fuckload of content.
Read them after you're finished with the books.
