I've read Winesburg, Ohio but never actually saw a picture of Sherwood Anderson before. Have to admit that he doesn't look anything like I imagined he would

He is the son of a drunken harness maker who was more often out of work and drunk than working so Sherwood grew up working in an attempt to help make ends meet for the family and to buy books. He was self taught as, only had basic public schooling.

Sherwood Anderson, he was Faulkner's mentor and picrel is pretty much the book which defined Faulkner and Southern Gothic. He was also a mentor to Hemingway and Hemingway fucking him over caused a decades long hole in Hemingway's and Stein's friendship, she called him a coward and he seethed for 30 years.

I seem to have palmed the track pad and caused a massive unintended edit.

He had a family and career before he became a writer, one day he had a nervous breakdown (probably massive drunk), disappeared for 4 days, forgot who he was and then left his life behind to drink and write. He did not live an easy life.

Guys, I think OP means that Beckett is Faulkner's father in terms of quality. Or he meant that Faulkner is Beckett's bitch.

Unlikely. OP seems a little on the dense side. Comparing Faulkner and Beckett is just stupid, they are just too different as writers for any sensible comparison.
