What is the best book to learn about wine?

>> No.21603850

idk about books because i don't care that much about the subject but i learned a lot just from playing konstantin baum's youtube channel in the background who is currently the youngest master of wine iirc

Georgian history in the 16th century is quite intertwined with wine since Tamerlane damn near exterminated us along with the lands suited for winery

idk i just listened to it when doing chores or whatever. but yes it's a good channel to pick up bits of information. i mainly became interested in wine as a way to engage with learning french and used the random buzzwords i remembered hearing from his videos as a starting point for research later.

i just tried reading while listening to him but it didnt work out well, he's just a traditional youtuber. the fact that he talks about something noble-ish made me associate the possibility of him doing asmr-like videos but now fuck eet.

In the Somm docuseries, they heavily relied on Karen McNiel's Wine Bible and recommended Perfect Pairings. There is a Master Sommelier podcast, but when I tried listening it was beyond me. Wine for Normal People podcast is fun, and I believe the sommelier who runs it has also written a book.

Reading using the same parts of the brain as listening, supposedly, so I doubt that would work out well. Try instrumental music.

so if i read while listening to an audiobook of the same book, accompanying the voice through the book, it will be like 2x reading?

>> No.21604177

>>21604159
Who knows? Give it a shot, but it will probably just result in a loss of focus. I suspect you'll either have to tune the voice out in order to read, or will merely be looking along as you're being read to by the speaker.
