Is reading good for your brain? I wanna become more smarter

>> No.21586230

Books do not make you more intelligent but on the contrary; they demand intelligence

No, you're just going to fall for propaganda that someone else thought and spread that same propaganda but even more misinformed like a game of telephone and contribute to the tradition of bad thinking passed down from generations of stupid people writing their wrong theories in mass produced books that appeal to mass poorly educated people and so on.

Yes. Inner dialogue also. Debate the topic, examine all viewpoints etc.

And no reading is terrible for you. Communicate strictly in emojis TikTok and virtual reality. Duh. Didn't uncle Ted tell you anything? Were you even listening. Raise your children on the Xbox, let the pregame lobby brainwash them. I'm joking

>Debate the topic, examine all viewpoints
I used to do this a lot, but I think it was a demon in my brain. I would think things that I didn't believe, and then start arguing with myself about it. The phenomena seems to be gone now, I'm not sure why

For the vast majority of my life, i have been addicted to the screen, and it wasn't until my dad got diagnosed wuth cancer in 2021 did i decide to go and change my life, which came with quitting video games and reading books. I was already on 4chan so i knew about /lit/ but bever went there, until i decided to read. I had no idea what to get, so i started with that pilosopher graph and start with homer. As i readyl through (and admittedly skipped some people) after about 2 years i realized that i in fact think differently. I wouldn't call it an conventional iq boost, but i changed my brain overtime to think more "philosophically". So if that's what you're referring to, then yes, it does make you smarter, but only in the way that the way you change your brain is heavily dependent on the book you read.
