>“Everything worthwhile in life is won through surmounting the associated negative experience. Any attempt to escape the negative, to avoid it or quash it or silence it, only backfires. The avoidance of suffering is a form of suffering. The avoidance of struggle is a struggle. The denial of failure is a failure. Hiding what is shameful is itself a form of shame.
>Pain is an inextricable thread in the fabric of life, and to tear it out is not only impossible, but destructive: attempting to tear it out unravels everything else with it. To try to avoid pain is to give too many fucks about pain. In contrast, if you’re able to not give a fuck about the pain, you become unstoppable." ~~~~ Mark Manson”
Is he right?

Sounds like its just Buddhism, a bit of stoicism. Desire is the source of suffering. So avoid desire. More slave philosophy for the masses. But hey, if you're gonna be a slave, that is the way.

At the end of the day, our minds were not meant for this modern world. Youre supposed to play a sort of game, but the game doesnt exist anymore for many people, the world is just too big to conquer now.

It really does sound like he's trying to repackage buddhism and try to sell it like it's his very own invention. Disgusting. Dharma is for free.

Tried to read this book but couldn’t make it past the first chapter. It’s like an edgy middle schooler learned his first curse words so he throws them in every other word. Very edgy/trendy. I couldn’t take the cringe and had to stop, it was unreadable.

>avoid desire
Make no goal into an idol. There's always a deeper reason why you seek any specific goal and your mind can never formalize all those reasons fully. This frame of mind is also needed for the only effective gambling strategy. You're not trying to win the individual bet but be profitable in the long term.

i unironically believe novels like these are proof that we are living in the end times
