I'm a Muslim and reading Luther made me much more sympathetic of Catholic and Orthodox Chrsitians. Luther was a schizo.

By Protestantism, do you mean holding that the see of Peter is to be honored, but not slavishly obeyed? Then any of the church fathers and church history.

If theologically, a Calvinist or Lutheran systematic theology textbook. Calvin’s Institutes or the Compend by Hutter.

Protestantism in the magisterial form is really just the western version of Orthodox churches. For goodness sakes, some of the supposedly united EOC churches don’t recognize the legitimacy of each other, same as different Prot traditions.

The Roman church succeeded as a hegemon because of shrewd diplomacy and fantastic administration.
