From the book Spare:
>I looked at Willy, really looked at him, maybe for the first time since we were boys. I took it all in, his familiar scowl which had always been his default in dealings with me, his alarming baldness more advanced than my own, his fading resemblance to mummy which was fading with time, with age.

I cant accept that they are just decoration rich people for other rich people. I would be kind of embarrassed if I was named "king" but couldnt rule shit. Its like a constant larp, like almost clownish.
Queen Elizabeth could pull it off because she was charismatic but Charles... I mean just look at him. He has the same creepy senile vibe Biden has, but has to put that outfit while having 1% of the power Biden has. Biden can nuke countries, does this guy even make someone go to jail?

My brother is eight years older than me. It's basically like being acquainted with an older student in school. I have a brother but it's not like a conscious feeling of 'I have a brother'.
I suppose if you're closer in age then it's much different. Harry goes off on one about how William lunged at him at Phillip's funeral, how they got into fights regularly etc. I've seen the press excuse this behaviour as 'typical brothers' but that's bullshit - brotherly relationships aren't inherently combative or boorish, and I hate that they're trying to frame it in that way.

wrong, nigger. Airing your family's dirty laundry is one of the most despicable things a man can do. Doing so for personal gain is even worse. That they are royals doesn't even factor in to the equation.
Those countless people you refer to are scum. The bond of family is the most sacred of all, perhaps even greater than that between man and God. Violating it is the sign of an absolutely contemptible person with no morals or character.

royal family gets cut by the mohel of london. it was a trend among the upper class in early 20th century to circumcise because jewish doctors convinced them it was a hygienic necessity. not sure when it started but it must have been recent because all the hemophiliacs in the family would have been discovered earlier.

For me like another best friend but being more in tune with him.
I have a brother, 7 years older than me and I love him. It's great, in my case he i very similar to me and he is a great man to talk to and we can do all kinds of things.
We have always been good brothers. Rivals as well, but that wasn't defining or affecting our relationship. When I was a kid and teenager I had always wished that he had been closer to my age so that we would have grown up doing far more stuff together. I always thought that we would do great stuff, adventures and building startups and such, together later in life.
However he married the wrong woman, ironically there are some parallels to Meghan Markle. So I don't have high hopes for our future beyond brief visits.

The best interpretation you can make of Harry is that he's a trust fund baby getting manipulated by his Becky Sharp-tier wife into trying to win back people's love and affection. On the other hand, the worst interpretation one can gather from this is he's an irredeemable cunt whose narcissism drives every decision he makes and is intent at destroying any good will towards his family and the people around him. I'm the older brother out of three and my parents always assumed I was a fag until I finally snapped at them in my early 20s. This all stemmed from the fact that I was quiet and bad at sports (my dad) and didn't like to talk about girls and (later) my sex life (my mom). The other two were favored because they were the polar opposite of me. My parents neglected me in favor of my brother to a ridiculous degree. They also tried to gaslight me into thinking it didn’t happen and if the situation made it impossible to do so they defaulted to blaming the situation on me. I’m not talking about the “they didn’t gave me enough attention” complaint some siblings have, I’m talking about some real harry potter shit. He used to steal everything from me, even food, and if I ever complained or did something back I would get punished or shouted at. To this day, if you go into my parents bedroom you’ll see multiple pictures of them with my brother at not one of me. I spent a year catatonic and suicidal after graduating high-school and they just left me languish.
The whole thing is even more ridiculous because nowadays I’m the one who cares for them. I rushed my father to the hospital multiple times and spent the night with him there more than once. Meanwhile my brother didn’t bother visiting him after he had a major surgery and left my mom alone at home with a fever that had been going on for two days because he had a date. All this and I still have no doubt they favor him and always will. He has the habit of entering a room and talking over me when I’m chatting with either of them and every time they’ll immediately start ignoring me and paying attention to what he’s saying.
I don’t even resent my parents, but that’s only because I put all the shit I went through in a box and throw it in the basement of my mind.

My brother and I got along pretty well as little kids, occasionally having fights like any normal brothers but generally getting along. I wasn't much of a bully like some older brothers are. We were both obsessed with the Matrix and other similar action movies. Unfortunately, as we got older our relationship deteriorated and I mostly blame this on my parents.

There were two events that happened around the same time, probably when I was 10 and he was 8 or 9.

The first happened while play-fighting. My brother tried to do a high-kick and I grabbed his leg and flipped him and he landed on his head, getting a concussion. My father became enraged, telling me that my younger brother would now be a retard and it was my fault. We took my younger brother to hospital and I had to sit in the waiting room of the emergency room thinking I had turned my brother into a retard as my parents went in with my brother to get him checked out. I remember the doctor coming out and telling me in front of my family that I shouldn't be so rough with my brother and I sat there in shame.

The second was just like the first. We were play-fighting on my parent's bed and somehow my brother fell onto the footboard and cracked a rib. Dad goes mad again, not realizing that he's just cracked a rib. I'm told that my brother is going to die, that I'm a horrible brother, etc. My parents take him to hospital and I get left at home.

Both of those situations were just normal brothers play-fighting and unfortunately my brother got hurt but there was never any ill intent on my part, but my parents created the narrative that my brother was a victim and I was a bully. As he got older, he started to become a very angry child and several times he randomly attacked me in ways that could have actually killed me if we hadn't been so lucky. Whenever this happened my parents would always say the same bullshit - that I had been very mean to my brother when we were younger and that was why he acted like this. He was somehow still the victim. No attempt was made to ever punish him.

In general my parents did a good job of raising us but I don't understand why they couldn't see that I never did anything to purposely hurt my brother like that and why they created the narrative of me being a bad brother. To this day it still has a negative effect on our relationship and I don't feel like my brother really cares about me. They fostered resentment in him towards me.

Poor Harry. He's right when he says he grew up in a kind of Truman Show. He's always been a rebel but never allowed to really experience real life. Princess Margaret was similar. She was the Queen's little sister, cynical about royalty while being trapped within it.
Imagine if your whole life was controlled by someone else, no matter how "privileged".
Perhaps he is lucky to have escaped but his adjustment to the "real world" (as artificially Hollywood it may be) is wrenching.

Depends of age gap, like being friends or friendly with an older/younger student. I love my brother, we aren't as close as we are with our friends/best friends, however I would give my life for him.
It's really weird, I love my mom, easily the person I love the most in the world however if I had to chose between her life or my brother's I would save my big bro, and it isn't because she's old now this is something I've thought as long as I can remember.

This is something I've reflected about previously the love for a sibling is weird, it's not as deep as love for others but I value his life above everyone else, must be something genetic.

>> No.21518756

>>21517901
Well I've never known anything else so it's hard to compare but I guess most people don't get constantly confused with someone else. Like new people in our joint friend group will have conversations and experiences with one of us but not be entirely sure which one so the "twin" in their mind is probably an amalgamation of us both. It also hurts a little that even extended family like grandparents and aunts and uncles can't tell us apart, even now at the age of 25. Additionally, siblings are often compared to each but identical twins, with the same genetic make up, get compared so much more. Which of use is more successful, socially competent, confident, awkward etc. It can be exhausting. On the positive side, having someone who you have everything but name and soul in common with means that you understand each other on a level that I don't think many people can claim to understand anyone in their life.

That's still a pretty low odds predictor. You would need several older brothers. I thought sexuality was something to do with endocrine mix in the womb.
I am the older brother of one younger brother by a few years and he isn't gay but I am.
On that brotherly love thing: we have totally different personalities so I guess imagine what that's like between friends or necessary acquaintances with different personalities. It's not like a magic bond or something. I think sibling emotional/ psychological issues is pretty normal though.

In my case we were close as kids, started arguing more and drifting away in our teens, and now as adults we're more open to each other and readily help each other out but that initial distance has opened a gap which can't be closed. We look like twins but we couldn't be any more different personality-wise and in terms of life priorities, those differences surfaced in our teens and we couldn't handle it and spent a long time being disgusted with each other.

We've both gotten more mature now and realized we can still maintain a fruitful relationship with each other and while we will never be two peas in a pod like when we were kids, there is an unshakable bond of loyalty that we share with each other and despite our differences, we can both feel that there's something kindred in our bones. That loyalty aspect is similar to what other anons are mentioning, and its what I imagine a relationship with a wife would be like.

Wrong. If the stories were so important, each and every single one of its derivatives and direct transpositions would be just as good as the original, even AAVE adaptations, Nigerian pidgin, etc. In fact, if the stories were all that mattered, wouldn't you be incredibly bored and desensitized to Shakespeare by the time you actually get around to reading him? It's impossible to grow up in the West without coming into contact with Shakespeare in some form or another.

The prose is the only thing that matters.

Even your stupid conception of bullying presupposes a kind of gentleman's agreement and fair play. Trying to fight six guys at the same time is not called "standing up for yourself" - it's called being a suicidal retard. Bullies do not bully others out of a sense of honour and charity - they do so in order to take out their own emotional frustrations on someone else, and typically try to skew the odds in any way possible in order to rule out retaliation.

yes this is true, I remember being quite shocked to find that no sense existed at all in the bullying when I got older and saw the crazy evil things people were doing. But it wasn't that way when we were younger at all, I think it was a good pack impulse we had - completely naturally as well - until it was lectured out of us by the adults and then we had the other mindless thing to contend with, only by that point as individuals outside of our pack. insidious.
