Finally got around to starting Crime and Punishment.

I figured I'd read the translators preface since I've never read a Russian book before. Worst mistake ever, 2 paragraphs in and it spoiled 3 huge parts of the plot.

Needless to say, I'm fucking pissed, and I will never read a preface or introduction again.

Raskolnikov is impossible to like or sympathise with, and the majority of the novel is him being a fucking retard trying to justify his mistakes
Having a little section at the end where he repents is not enough to satisfy the disdain I have for his character
