Where do I start with Jung?

I only started to really understand him when I read the first couple essays of volume 9, part 1 (volume 9 is actually two volumes, confusingly) of the Collected Works, Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious. They're brief essays that can get you started.

I think the most interesting way to approach him is to look at him as someone who looked at the METHOD of Freud's depth psychology and found it valuable, but found all of Freud's aprioristic materialism and biologism to be unwarranted metaphysical assumptions. The base of Jung's thinking is a liberation of psychoanalytic depth psychology from materialistic reductionism.
