Hello /lit/erates.

I just want to ask why Svidrigailov in Crime and punishment killed himself?
Perhaps I am too much of a peasant to understand his deep reasoning , but it seems that he was just a whiny little bitch because Avdotya didn't want to blow him?
Is this correct? if not, why did he do it?
