21448765 No.21448765 [Reply] [Original]

Any authors take the view that even if God exists, Morality would still not be determined by them? That is, even if there is a god, there is still no objective moral authority?

There's no law but what moral/ethical code you are willing to follow. Parents, states. churches, whatever.
Why would anyone need a philosopher to explore these things on your own?

You might want to look into deism. I mean, it's wrong, but it sounds like it might line up with what you're looking for.

I remember saying stupid naive stuff like this and worse and I thought I was so clever for saying such.

Depends on the God. The Christian God is the source of morality by definition. A definition is never logically wrong.

It was implied in Euthyphro iirc.

If God exists (he does) then literally everything in existence is determined by him, you may argue about whether “morality” has a clear definition but it either is entirely objective or entirely nonexistent

I agree with >>21449647 that deism is probably the closest to what you're arguing.

What's the matter with you? Do you not understand what I mean? Have you never heard of Stirner?
Holy shit
