Are there any good books on the concept of slowly turning someone insane through small and seemingly innocuous things over a very long and constant period of time? It's the Stasi concept of Zersetzung, basically, but i cannot find much written about its procedures.

Anon, if you think security services are targeting you and trying to make you mad, you are quite possibly a schizophrenic. You are most likely not a valuable target for any sort of operation, but you may be afflicted by a very common disease of the mind.
Please tell me you have considered that.

Ok. In any case, the most authoritative book in English about the Stasi is "Stasi: The Untold Story of the East German Secret Police" by John Koehler. I don't recall reading anything about this sort of operation in there (probably because it sounds like a big waste of resources and hardly adequate to their internal procedures), but you could check his sources to see if you can find anything.

The point was in plausible deniability. Honecker wanted to clean up the GDR's public image, so a lot of the over terror had to become more covert and subtle.

Gaslighting is related to it, but this is more expansive than just that
Also i really hate the word gaslighting nowadays

I, too, get spuriously tested, and I seriously detest it, but [cleanitude] + [magnitude] = magnanimity.

It is the result of neither coming to terms with things, nor getting used to them; the key is to come to terms with things without necessarily getting used to them —with the gradual overcoming that this may imply & entail.

Watch: "Magic, Magic" (2013).
