This image inspired me to declare physics as my major, and as a result, I experienced great agony (workloads, homework, complex ideas, real analysis, qft, integral by parts etc.). I wish to comprehend this image. What book ought I to read?

The Emperor's New Mind or teh Road to Reality. Roger Penrose goes into more detail on what the image means there. But the idea is that the mental world.is the result of the physical world, the mathematical world can be comprehended and in a sense mbedded in the mental world and the physical world is governed by mathematical world, forming a strange loop

Lmao.
Most philosophers are huge brainlets. That's why the field hasn't advanced since the fucking Hellenistic era. Meanwhile, science and mathematics keep on progressing towards the infinite horizon of Truth.

There's no such thing as a Platonic mathematical world because Plato never advocated for such a thing. OP's image is the result of a bastardization of an Aristotelian bastardization of Plato's theory of the forms, a third hand pass me down ruined beyond recognition. Plato is a "one world" philosopher, end of story.

Ever heard the term "natural philosophy"? I am the father of all knowledges.

The Platonic dialogues, if you haven't already done so, as well as Aristotle. This will prepare you to tackle later Platonic thinkers such as Iamblichus and Plotinus. But if you haven't read Plato and Aristotle don't bother with anything else yet.

The "explanation" you give is just the kind of shallowness i meant. And for some reason you think i denigrate science by calling Penrose a bad philospher. You should read some of the philosophical writings of Schrödinger, Heisenberg or Bohr, it might blow your underdeveloped mind

Mathematical objects aren't even the highest conceivable things in Plato's hierarchy of thought, let alone said to exist in a separate world.

agree or not?

The mathematical world is a abstract world that exists independently of the physical and mental worlds. It is a world of pure thought and ideas, where concepts such as numbers, geometry, and algebraic operations are defined and studied.

The physical world is the material universe that we experience through our senses. It is the world of matter and energy, of objects and events that can be observed and measured.

The mental world is the subjective world of our thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It is the world of consciousness and perception, where we process and interpret the information we receive from the physical world.

The relationship between these three worlds is complex and multifaceted. The mathematical world and the physical world are closely interconnected, as mathematical concepts and principles are used to describe and understand the physical world. For example, the laws of motion and gravity in physics are described using mathematical equations. The mental world is also connected to the other two worlds, as our thoughts and perceptions are influenced by the physical world and the mathematical concepts we use to understand it

Mathematical objects are intermediaries between the forms retard, read Aristotle’s writings on Plato’s pythagoreanism. Aristotle wrote some of the unwritten doctrine that Plato didn’t deign to confuse plebs like you with. Plato never saw the forms as mathematical objects.

Science? You mean natural philosophy right? Science peaked with Maxwell, it's been eating shit ever since.

Defend this statement with a quote from a primary source.
>Aristotle’s writings on Plato’s pythagoreanism
Want to give a specific source you AIDS suffering faggot? "Aristotle's writings on X" is not good enough.
>Plato never saw the forms as mathematical objects.
Who said that he did? Dumb faggot. Mathematical objects are pure forms however.

The original anon said >>21414478
>There's no such thing as a Platonic mathematical world because Plato never advocated for such a thing
This is technically correct as Plato came up with a huge variety of tiers of reality above the physical realm that we inhabit and there's far more things in those tiers of reality than math so no it's not a "mathematical world", BUT, it's incorrect in as much as anon was implying that Plato wasn't, well, a Platonic realist, ESPECIALLY when it came to math. The only way that you could argue this if you not only had never read anything by Plato, but were also completely divorced from the basics of the Western philosophical tradition.

Now having said THAT, most "Mathematical Platonists" like Tegmark aren't really Platonists in the same way that Plato was, at least as far as cosmology is concerned.
