So who has played the videogame adaptation of Tao Lin's brilliant Richard Yates?

What does /lit/ think about straight to videogame adaptations of literature and vice versa?

video games are for children

Planescape Torment is widely regarded as the best fantasy novel ever written despite being actually a videogame. I think games to a certain extent are just enhanced books with extra tools for immersion like music and cutscenes.

Except there are much better fantasy novels.

Video games do add another layer to that immersion and that whole element of escapism that is pretty much the foundation by which the genre thrives, so I wouldn't be surprised if what you're saying is true. Btw, I don't play video games besides that Flower game but I fully support it as a platform for that fleeting sense of adventure and discovery. If only it didn't strive to be confined to a narrative and simply created rich environments that led to self discovery. Seriously, an environment is all it takes to either evoke mystery, desolation, adventure, terror. Anyway all I'm saying is that its the one medium where non sequiturs should be fully embraced.
