eh, you're right. it's just embarrassing to spend a bill on a book that sits on the shelf. honestly, i've been stuck trying to read Ancient History at least five, six times, and it's just not all that pleasant. I liked A Smuggler's Bible though. the whole concept of an apartment building filled with various interesting souls is a great setting for the type of fiction he writes, but there is a certain challenge to him, that one's not smart enough to *really* get it.

Never read A Smuggler's Bible and Ancient History but you could try giving Lookout Cartridge a chance? I found it very readable since it is very fast paced and the central 'gimmick' behind it is very fun (the narration basically acts like a camera and often times will reference and employ a variety of filming techniques, like using color filters)

man, i've wanted to read plus for some time, it seems like the most interesting premise, (well, as a premise it seems almost stale by modern terms, but his treatment of it seems fascinating) the only one i can recommend is Smuggler's if you have it. Is actress in the house as bad as it looks?
