Super inconsistent. I enjoyed it overall, but I didn't appreciate some of the different kinds of writing he tried out. I also thought there was a serious lack of witchering from book 3 on until I assume someone must have told him to add a bit more in.

The first two books are great though.

I'm on the time of contempt right now, enjoying the political intrigue as it relates to the greater plot involving Ciri's prophecy. I've heard some people compare the series to GoT, but I haven't read enough of Martin to know what kind of comparison that is.

middling to poor translation, suffers from bloat and scope creep

That's because he serves way less of a purpose in the games since they're focused on the playable, monster hunting aspect of Geralt's life. If the games were more of a romantic political drama (as the books tend to be) then he would be more prominent as a real character than as a cowardly comedy relief.

The Witcher starts out as a bunch of short stories about a monster hunter and it turns into this sprawling epic about a chosen one type horseshit with Ciri. I forget the details but I don't think it handled the transition from highly contained stories to multi-book series particularly well

I am enjoying the vidya game (da wicha 3: da wild hunt) :D pretty nice to explore (currently doing the mission where the whole town was transformed into pigs, does that come from the books btw?)
