John MacArthur said this was written by a demon.

i read this at an extremely young age. i'm afraid to ever return to it, since my current sensibilities would probably lead me to mock it for its new age spirit bullshit, but i loved it back then, Jonathan wanting more, to be something more than just a plain old seagull, fighting over food.

John MacArthur worships the demiurge so I don't know why you would care about anything he says

Jack BigMac is one of the first of the generation of boomers that gave us Bush and Trump, he probably would have called it the third Testament of the Bible if Johnathan transformed into a drone that bombed the Gaza Strip for Israel at the end

Read a book brother. "Demon" as an evil spirit is a Christian corruption of "daimones" which is more akin to what you'd call a guardian angel. What you believe is literally an inversion of the truth.
Funny how before Christianity no one ever got possessed by demons or devils, or went crazy because Satan was talking to them.

The demons I've had to deal with predate the invention of Christianity by several orders of magnitude.

John MacArthur is a Calvinist, which means that the entity he worships is worse than any demon could ever be

It unironically wants to make you watch as it tortures your family and slaughters your children, and it thinks it's funny

People believed in demons long before Christianity came onto the scene. We even have depictions of demons/evil paranormal creatures going back to Sumeria.

I can only summarize.
What Buddhists refer to as the "lower astral plane" is all too real.
We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of churning, evil seas of infinity.
Trying to contact higher consciousnesses (e.g. meditating, seances, ouija boards, etc.) is like a blind person walking through Watts, or Tijuana, enthusiastically trying to be friends with every scumbag he meets.
H.P. Lovecraft was less of a writer and more of a narrator of the horrible truth.
You can search for "lower astral plane", but do so on Bing; the results on Google are strangely censored.
Sorry I don't have time to get into this in more detail. Day-jobbery and all that.

I'll leave you with this...
Being ethical is more important than you can possibly imagine.
And there's no set formula for being so; it requires constant analysis, constant adaptation, and some unforeseen U-turns.
There are so many ways to sink further into the mud, and precious few ways to get out.
You can consider the universe to be a series of concentric prisons, where undesirables (fairly or not) are shoved into lower realms, and trapped, by whoever possesses the ability to do so.
Those of us on Earth are pretty close to the bottom...which, given the state of human society, should not shock you.
And most unsettling of all...as much as I wish this weren't true...annihilation doesn't seem to be an option.
The only way out is the hard way. And the truth is not popular.
One of the few bits of good news is that, in the final analysis, you can trust your own intuition; the path out of the mud is as individual as the person walking that path. Other people's solutions may not be right for you, or only be right for a short while.

I haven't heard of him until now.
I only had time to read the first page of his manifesto, which was fortunately a summary.

But that's the sort of "concentric prison" I'm talking about.
Picrel is the most comprehensive, and footnoted, explanation of that subject that I'm aware of.
Yeah...footnoted. If it's a schizo dream, it's a heavily documented one.
It just reaffirms how important it is to be rigorously ethical, and casts into sharp relief how difficult it is to get out...fairly or not.

Can you recommend books on how to achieve a higher state of being, or how to improve the self in a meaningful way?
How accurate is picrel?

Thought-provoking picrel. I saved it.
I've only read #5, "The Secret Of Mental Magic".
I thought it made a good point, i.e. intention is more effective if backed up by emotion -- pure logic isn't enough.
Practice (and as I said, continuous observation and reevaluation) is definitely a large proportion of the journey. Otherwise, you'll revert to your self-destructive ways when under stress.
I wish I could recommend a book to read. (Although "Gods Of Eden" will certainly serve as motivation, once you learn how much trouble you're really in).
I'm sorry, but it's very late for me; I need to crash. Day-jobbery is its own hell.
