Ok fellas here’s the deal. I’ve read a lot of history books and want to read fiction for once. Currently I’ve read 1 to 4 of the dune series, and while I throughly enjoy them I want a (short) break from the franchise. So can I please get some fiction novels recommended to me? I’ll read any genre other than YA novels. Pic rel. Is my favourite instalment atm

the worm ouroboros

You stopped at the perfect place with Dune, read no further.
I would recommend Blindsight and the sequel. If you're interested in cyberpunk go for the Sprawl trilogy. Ender's Game is fun, and some of the sequels are extremely good if the original catches your interest. Rendezvous with Rama is pretty neat. The Moon is a Harsh Mistress should be required reading for everybody, if only for the primer on insurgency cell structure.

Really? Cause I’ve heard great things about the last two.

I consider myself a Dune fan. I read all books by Herbert, seen all tv adaptations, played every viseo game in this universe, and many tabletop ones. Dune inspires a lot of creative things I do. I love Dune. That being said, I would only ever recommend the first book, and I would do so for the setting, not for the story. Dune's setting is stellar and brilliant, but most characters never inspired particular interest in me, and those that did, were killed off.

Feyd deserved a better fate. Paul deserved a worse one.

Me too. I read book one and was hooked.
Read Messiah (maybe children, don't remember) and stopped. I'll just be a fan of the first one

Finished dune in five days, couldn't get enough of it. Messiah is taking my a bit longer to get through

Messiah get's better towards it's second half in my opinion.

I agree with that, but reading Messiah I grew to like Paul and feel bad for him. He was right to be pissed and distrustful of his mother.

moby dick is shit to normies but if you're autistic it's basically the best book ever written.

it's a five chapter novella where the author spends 400+ pages making sure you understand everything perfectly first so you can experience the last chapter exactly as intended.
