What translation should I read next for my yearly Iliad venture? I've read Fagles and Pope, I see people say Lattimore alot but I'm leaning towards Fitzgerald.

Should've started with Lattimore. He's among the most faithful to the original, outside of literal prose renderings.
Fitzgerald is basically a milder version of Pope for modern readers.

Hammond, Kline, Verity. Green. Lattimore is fucking stilted and awkward, you are actually better off reading the less accurate Fitzgerald.

It's different from most translations in that Lombardo sought to replicate the Greek oral recitation but for English speakers. It's stylized in a way that makes the beats natural for an English speaker - but he does take some liberties with the text. It may not be 100% like Lattimore, but I think it's a very powerful read that really attempts to give a modern non-Greek reader the best, natural experience. I could be wrong, but I think Lombardo took the book on a college tour for some time and would read passages to a simple beat of a drum.
