>I loved the History channel
>Turn it on for old times sake

It used to be all badass shows about history and, you know, things that people with a pulse find interesting. Now these degenerate shows are replayed day-in and day-out.

>> No.2128883

perhaps you were the degenerate all along, and Ice Road Truckers is what normal people enjoy...

I'm not sure the History channel was ever that great. From what I can remember, 90% of its programming is about Hitler and the Nazi Party. I can't tell you how many times I've watched that shit about Nazism in the United States, some stuff about a German American Bund.

Actually, I do remember tons of shows about Nazi Germany maybe 10-7 years ago. But there was still a much larger variety of shows about history. I just think the shift in programming says something about the US.

I know how you feel OP

Once, I found a really interesting documentary about Hannibal of Carthage, but the rest of the party forced me to turn it back to MTV Hits.

Reality TV is king and the shows are much cheaper to produce.

>> No.2128897

It's nothing compared to what TLC has become.

That channel is like the absolute polar opposite of what it once was.

This. The UKfags created this virus, too, so it's all the fault of their tea–drinking foppery anyhow, and then they go LOL MURIKKKUNTS.

It's the changing times with "reality shows.

Cartoon Network use to be "All Cartoons, All the time" Now they have reality shows.

History Channel use to be awesome shit about everything. Now it's reality shows.

Discovery was like the nature/documentary thing that was awesome, now it's reality shows.

Si Fi Channel use to be the place to watch shitty but awesome b movies, striaght to movie movies, stephen king movies, tales from the crypt, etc. Now they have reality shows and tv series up my ass.

TV sucks. Thats why I stopped watching completely.

I just checked the History Channel schedule for today's programming, and gained hope when I saw that the first show to be played was about the formation of the States. That hope was whisked away in a moment's notice when I saw that Pawn Stars was due to play after it.

Watching TV sucks now-a-days. The commercials plus the large amount of terrible shows, it is so pointless. BUT there is still some great TV shows from the past and ones that are still going strong.

>also /tv/ is an absolutely terrible board

I'm told its a show about smoking, drinking, fucking, with a small bit of advertising in the background.

I'll drink some JD while watching redtube while smoking a cigar, and when that little ad pops up for enhancing your cock to 13 inches, I'll click it out. I think I saved myself 15 to 45 mins.

If you'd like a more intelligent talk about "nostalgia," read "Ignorance" by Milan Kundera.

He describes the issue of "nostalgia" across languages/cultures. I'd quote some, but the copy I have is in Spanish.

Found your problem.
HC is in Lazy Sunday-mode. All day. Erryday.

If you dont want to watch three-hour specials on Nostradamus dating Hitler in an Ancient Aliens themepark, you'll have to look elsewhere.

>> No.2129112

Those shows are the least of the History Channel's problems. Most of its "history" programs are speculative, sensationalist bullshit.

It's an entertainment channel. It doesn't give two shits about the serious study of history.

>> No.2129117

ice road truckers is actually a subtle extended allegory for hannibal crossing thhe alps and if you didn't pick up on that i don't know what to tell you

>> No.2129127

OP, turn on History International (or History 2 or whatever it's called now), it's got all the good shit that history channel used to have, and it has it every day.
