So why is Ayn Rand considered a proponent of objectivism?

She sounds more like a subjectivist.

inb4 "ur so dum", and superiority because you've read some books, I just want an answer, there was a time when you didn't know this either.

because she sucked at philosophy.

No, but seriously, I watched this documentary on her life on Netflix that was obviously a low budget thing but was composed entirely of videos of interviews with her and she was forever on about how you should pursue you dreams and let no one else get in your way. Basically be selfish. That sounds pretty fucking subjective to me, to me objective would be what benefits humanity the most.

you're using the term "objectivism" as an antonym of "subjectivism," which is obviously correct. But the philosophical "objectivism" hasn't this name because of the objectivity of their philosophers. Objectivist (as part of the philosophical) philosophers can be subjective, the fact that they belong to the Objectivist movement is determined by other patterns.

At this point, it's like finding a flaw in neoclassical or Austrian economics. Right-wingers have no place in philosophy.

She's an objectivist in the sense that there are objective laws of ethics which can be discovered by the application of reason.

According to her, those objective laws state that you should confine yourself to your subjective interests. But not entirely, though. Otherwise her philosophy might make sense. I'm not entirely sure when you're allowed to be entirely selfish and when you must be a good citizen and not murder, steal, etc. I'm hardly a Rand scholar, nor am I inclined to become one.
