It have a model for how to learn better what you read, with the objective of making you better cultured. I'm not inclined to believe it's the best, and certainly not the only one. I barely apply it because I read mainly fiction and when I don't I use the zettelkasten method, but it started for me with this book.

I've been reading it recently anon, I'm about half of the way in and I think it's interesting. there were definitely ideas about reading expressed there that weren't fully in my head and I think are very helpful, but there is also some very obvious stuff which can get boring at points. Idk if I'll ever finish everything since the later half seems to be stuff that doesn't really apply to me

I just read summaries of it like every other self help book. None of them are worth actually reading. The most you could outside some power point on what you need to know from the book is some flowery filler about why something is important. If you already understand that
1) it’s effective and
2) that you should heed the instructions
Why do I need to anything other than read a synthesise of it’s main points with brief elaboration and nothing else? Reading the actual book is meant for other kinds of non-fiction and of course fiction. Self help should always be read in the most efficient amount possible because what there actually is to say can be summarised (and is) in the length of a reddit post.
