Why does it seem like a lot of fiction readers have inferiority complexes towards nonfiction readers? I've seen several articles and social media posts where fiction readers are dragging nonfiction readers for only reading nonfiction, but I rarely see the opposite.

disregarding "context", fiction (art in general, a piece of a music or a painting could feasibly count as well) is the only place where one can pretend they have complete information about something without making an arbitrary distinction start/end like for history/"non-fiction" lel/science - I am not saying one is better than the other, but those are just the facts.

All of these are different. In truth, it’s non-fiction writers who have a false sense of superiority against fiction writers. They think they are smarter because they’re not reading “stories”, though the most enjoyable non-fiction is narrative non-fiction like Devil in the White City, and The Hot Zone. Just reading Michael Moore political books is not better than reading normal modern library fiction.
