Like you have a machete. Fuck you.

What the fuck is it with /lit/ and the Count of Monte Cristo, anyway? It's an OK yarn, nothing more.

OP - I'd start with Les Trois Mousquetaires and then the rest of the D'Artagnan romances - they're his best, most enjoyable work. The Black Tulip is also very good.

Dumas wrote a cookbook as well, and he had the best 'fro in all of French Literature. Pic related.

Come on, it's not like it's hard to get a machete. Just ask African dictatorships.

Yeah, but it's probably too scary and sharp for him, and his mum won't let him keep it.

Don't give a fuck if he has got one - my big-ass bush knife that I was given by a genuine Maasai tribesdude will protect me from 4channers with dull cane-cutters.

well now you just sound like an internet tough guy more than he did

>> No.2110679

ahh, sorry - forgot 4chan cannot into irony.

So, what is the deal with The Count of Monte Cristo then? Is it on a lot of US high school curricula?

Like I say, I think it's a decent adventure story, nothing more.

it is just so fucking satisfying. it's a pretty big book, but at no point are you like, damn this book is long, it's just all good and really, there is nothing to complain about. everything is done so well. it may not be breaking barriers but it is like when your mom is a pretty good cook, but then one thanksgiving she really outdoes herself and makes the best damn home cooked meal you ever did have, so you remember that one. you put it in your pocket, and you remember.

You put your thanksgiving dinner in your pocket? DId you have to go to work or something? Didn't it get messy? Wasn't the food all mashed together with lint and bus tickets?
