It's not 1920 anymore, anon. You can't just be a "good writer" and get published.

Writing market is the same as any other market, when you want to make money.

Ok so you are going into the writing market. Market smaller than the global pharmaceutical market, car market, Chinese or EU consumer market. You are going into a tiny market. Tiny little small market, compared to some other markets.
Next, what would your market share be? Why are you better than the next anon who wants to write? Why are you cheaper? Why are you more competitive? What do you have that others dont?

Best for last, who is buying your writing? That naval shipyard over there? Is propulsion laboratory buying your writing, for one of their wind tunnels? Who is buying your writing? That thermoelectric powerplant? Is it a semiconductor microchip factory buying all your writing?

Conclusion: become a dentist or a plastic surgeon. Bigger demand, lesser supply of people. Should afford you a lot of time for writing. A LOT! 3 months vacation every year for you to do nothing but full time writing.
Average consumer who doesnt read every day will just go and buy a classic, a classic written by a dead guy. Or download a pdf. Few people have time for your writing.

Basically this. I'm still figuring out which job though.

Requirements:
>easy
>can be done parttime
>makes a comfortable amount of money
>doesn't drain me mentally
>is fun
>doesn't make people frown at me (ashamed to admit this, but the more I'm getting to know myself the more I realize I'm one of those people who cares about what others think of him)

tips?

Well I'm the guy who wrote the post you replied to. I personally own a tobacco store. I forgot why its classified like that, but it sells cigarettes, drinks, snacks, bus tickets..
Its an easy job, hours are whatever you want when you are the owner, money is okay and its completely fucking mentally dead, I picked up reading while in there because of how insanely bored I was.

Now, I registered a second business. Welding. I hired 2 people to work the store so I can do welding. Let me tell you something about welding. Its fun. I have lots of fun welding. It makes more money than university professors do in my city. Its actually a bit hard but this keeps me interested and entertained. I dont really care what people think about me because I make more than 80% of the people in my city, statistically, as a self employed welder. I like the planning, the drawing, applying and using different tools, working towards a goal, figuring out how can I construct the metal piece that I need next, etc.

Listen, when I am done working, when I wash the metal dust and slag off of myself, my body is fit and beautiful and muscular because I work outdoors and climb scaffolding and whatnot, I wear an expensive suit because contracts I negotiate for myself cut out all the middlemen (such as tax collectors, one of the biggest perks of self employment is not reporting half of the jobs), I wear an expensive watch, I am not even 30 yet, when a pretty lady in an expensive nightclub sits in my lap and pushes her delicate hand over my shirt and asks me what I do, and I tell her to guess to make the conversation going, due to my wealth and fitness they usually say some kind of police inspector or special forces guy, an athlete, etc.

Living a good life but stay safe out there and take all the necessary precautions with fumes and stuff, I've known guys like you before and often they start to get really depressed when they age and have to slow down, especially when they have to retire. The ones who did best were the ones who were smart and always diversified, not just money wise but skill and interest wise. Sure you have to stop scaling fucking buildings when you're 50 but now you custom build houses with your brother, that kind of thing.

But yeah that's the dream. I always envy guys who just like the grind like that, my dad was one. He just loved going to a new house to fix a few things, he'd have to be creative for each one, he'd discover ten more things that need fixing, the owner would ask him to fix ten other things besides because he liked the job he did. Made good money and just loved the day to day of it all. A lot of good entrepreneurs are like that too, like restaurant and shop owners who have to hustle constantly and treat it like a video game to see how much money they can min/max out of it.

Just make sure you put down roots while you're doing it, like a family and ideally a religious and cultural life wherever you happen to live. Then you can live basically the ideal life. Also please do not spoil your kids. Every guy I know like you has the worst, most spoiled brat kids, totally the opposite of his ambition and drive. Weirdest shit ever.

It's a long story. I was orginally gonna do Law (I even had a training contract set up so don't shit on me for wanting to do law) but I missed a grade so I resat on my A-Levels because I wanted to go to that specific Uni but covid happened and, without warning, as even the teachers were telling me I'd just recieve my prior predicted grades (as we legally couldn't sit tests that year), on results day I was told resit students wouldn't given new grades. There was small upset "#justice for resit students" but where simply wasn't enough of us for anyone to care. So anyways, not only was I fucked over because now I still had the same grades but because of the confusion I was late to clearing which meant there were like no courses left and only courses at buttfuck unis. My parents weren't keen on having me waste another year out of education so I picked one of the few available courses: English Literature.
tl;dr: fuck my life
