Why does he piss people off so badly?

>> No.21052446

Because he's far past his prime but still insists on voicing his opinion with the three brain cells not totally frayed by cocaone

>> No.21052449

>>21052426
just because he pisses off low IQ 4chan retards doesn't mean he pisses "people" off.

He looks like a Dr Seuss character

One of the most financially successful writers of all time and did it without a single reference to the greeks or Shakespeare so lit nerds who think books=personality hate him

He doesn't. /lit/ hates him because he writes and he's famous.

Funny you mention "low IQ" because I dismissed him and his work as lurid pulp fiction by a low IQ writer for low IQ readers. I seriously regard stuff I read at 4chan to be vastly superior to anything he's ever written and you guys are fucking morons.

He's an ugly no talent American with a unibrow.

Yeah no I'm not reading that shit. I have better things to do like read amusing discussions of Capability Brown's Regency era garden designs that were more evocative of the romantic era concept of the beauty of nature in a Jane Austen novel.

If it's on the NY Times bestseller list for fiction you can rest assured it's garbage.

Now that I think about it I'd place him about on the same level as EC comic stories but without the cool, lurid pictures.

His writing is middling I guess. The erotic parts of his books are uncomfortable to read. Especially the ones involving children like the infamous 5th grader orgy in IT.

>> No.21053546

His stories would be entertaining enough in a pulp fiction sort of way if it wasn't for his tiresome boomer hippie opinions constantly intruding upon the prose.

yeah, it's not him personally, it's his 'fama' - he's a lot like JK Rowling in that for a certian time a large demographic of kids were given his books, so his name and part-influence is just there floating around, bumping into things in the head.

The Bachman books and some of his short stories are kind of based. He’s one of those guys who desperately needs an editor but he’s so famous that nobody bothers to edit him anymore.

>Wyndham Lewis
You know, I've always meant to since I heard Bowdens https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucNuwO_iM4Q little lecture on him. I mean, not really for the sake of the literature itself but because I can relate to what Lewis was doing with the grammar, having gone through a similar thing myself; running into the limitations of local grammar and composition and trying to find sensible and efficient ways to get around it - he replaced the semi-colon with the = sign, things like this.

Still, idk how much I would care for him personally; he seemed a little over-edgy in his habits and dress.

I read the book when I was like 13 or 14 and somehow the kids all fucking each other didn’t seem all that crazy to me back then. Seemed like something a spiritually linked group of kids would actually do if they were about to go fight the living embodiment of their terror.

It's not that hard to simply enjoy some of his books and don't like the others. All without giving a half of a fuck about who is fanbase is or what they are tweeting.

>> No.21054908

I think I've enjoyed everything by him that I've read. It is kind of mostly trash though. If anything, that's part of the appeal.
