21030176 No.21030176 [Reply] [Original]

>Immediately prior to his suicide, Gribyedov uploaded his 25,000 word manifesto and an additional 140,000 words--comprising two complete novels and several volumes of original poetry--to a text hosting website that he believed would archive them in perpetuity. However, automatic moderation bots identified objectionable words in the files, restricted them, and ultimately deleted them entirely. According to Gribyedov's best friend and self-appointed literary executor, the site's actions destroyed the young author's life's work permanently, as he was carrying his laptop when he drowned himself. The size, file names, and file size of the documents are the only information that can be scraped from his upload, which was located based a link provided in his hand written last letter.

Probably should’ve waited around long enough to make sure they uploaded fully and/or carried handwritten backups.

>handwritten backups
>165,000 word personal canon

That would be virtually impossible, especially for somebody in the throws of suicidal despair

God damn. There could've been many things worth reading in those.
Drowning is also a painful way to go. I always admire the tenacity of people who chose to kill themselves in brutal ways. I could never imagine going out with anything other than a bullet to the brain.

Yeah maybe this story of him dying and losing his work is more interesting than his work itself.

When I saw the thread my first idea was that it's about the 19th century Russian comediographer ("Woe from Wit"), but then I remembered that he didn't kys nor did he use computers.

Should've been less edgy and like
carved it into a stone face somewhere instead of being content with the lowest common denominator, the internet

He chose a shit platform to upload it to.

Fucking using a pastebin-like site would've been less likely to get his shit taken down. If he wanted his work preserved he should've had a USB stick with it all on there.

If any of you tards are planning to do something like this;
>upload multiple copies to different places
>use pastebin or similar site to upload the plaintext, then archive.is the pastebin page
>dump PDFs on an image board that let's you upload PDFs
>keep copies on USB drive(s) and label them

I thought this shit would be common sense.

I’m pretty sure this was pastebin because I tried to paste a book in there yesterday and it said that it made my paste private or whatever because of potentially sensitive content. If that’s the case then this is on him because it literally tells you that it’s not going to upload it right after you click paste

I wonder if he was a fan of Virginia Woolf. That's how she did it.
