Considering it's about the peoples of Beleriand betraying and fighting each other and failing to unite to stop a common enemy that uses hordes of dark skinned humanoids as minions, most of them going extinct and ultimately the whole continent being destroyed, yes, it certainly is, anon.

One of the changes Christopher did, as an example, was with the Wanderings of Húrin, and how much he had it compressed in the Published Silmarillion; and then he compressed it even more so with the book The Children of Húrin.

It’s beyond great for what can be conceivably fitted into a measly 300 pages. Like the other anon mentioned though I sense a lot of editorialization has occurred from Christopher Tolkien even without examining Tolkien’s manuscripts. If it was so unfinished, it does read suspiciously well as a narrative. I know The History of Middle Earth exists, but I feel strongly that there at least should be a heavily annotated version of at least extended appendices and notes about the decisions from Christopher as what was cut and what wasn’t. Idk maybe it’s too nerdy to even care about a fictional world after all, but credit to Tolkien for creating a world and mythology that’s so familiar and yet so different. Now that Christopher’s dead maybe there will be a greater opening of the Tolkien’s archives and unpublished papers but I doubt it, since there are still books coming out which means there’s still money to be made. I also think a more extensive Tolkien biography is long overdue

>>20991693
One of the problems is that Tolkien's handwriting is unreadable, but Christopher was great at reading his father's handwriting, even when Tolkien couldn't read it himself. Another problem is that Tolkien didn't date his notes, so figuring out what was earlier or later was difficult even for himself, and there's tons of drafts that if you published all of them would make it difficult for readers. So Christopher was in a unique position being the son of Tolkien giving him the ability to make something out of Tolkien's mess. Maybe computer analysis could help make something better, or a dedicated team of Tolkien scholars.

Only soi redditors who got filtered within the first 10 pages make the "IT READS LIKE THE BIBLE" complaint.

>'Why, O people of the Noldor,' he cried, 'why should we longer serve the jealous Valar, who cannot keep us nor even their own realm secure from their Enemy? And though he be now their foe, are not they and he of one kin?'
>'Vengeance calls me hence, but even were it otherwise I would not dwell longer in the same land with the kin of my father's slayer and of the thief of my treasure."
>'Yet I am not the only valiant in this valiant people. And have ye not all lost your King? And what else have ye not lost, cooped here in a narrow land between the mountains and the sea?"
>Long he spoke, and ever he urged the Noldor to follow him and by their own prowess to win freedom and great realms in the lands of the East, before it was too late; for he echoed the lies of Melkor, that the Valar had cozened them and would hold them captive so that Men might rule in Middle-earth.
>Many of the Eldar heard then for the first time of the Aftercomers. 'Fair shall the end be,' he cried, though long and hard shall be the road! Say farewell to bondage! But say farewell also to ease! Say farewell to the weak! Say farewell to your treasures! More still shall we make."
>'Journey light: but bring with you your swords! For we will go further than Oromë, endure longer than Tulkas: we will never turn back from pursuit. After Morgoth to the ends of the Earth!'
>'War shall he have and hatred undying. But when we have conquered and have regained the Silmarils, then we and we alone shall be lords of the unsullied Light, and masters of the bliss and beauty of Arda. No other race shall oust us!'

I'm thinking it's based

I cant believe how shills who normally push and slide social/political threads are suddently working in Rings of Power/tolkien threads. It makes you think there are social implications in that show.

>>20991012
Also what is with everybody suddently posting that page everywhere. That is the descontextualized opinion of a literal nobody, presented as if it was a doctor on silmarillions

>Then Turin sat in silence, and strove with his pride, which would not let him turn back; and he brooded on the years that lay behind him. But coming suddenly out of his thought he said to Beleg: "The Elf-maiden whom you named: I owe her well for her timely witness; yet I cannot recall her. Why did she watch my ways?"
>Then Beleg looked strangely at him. "Why indeed?"
