Wolfe wrote a lot of easier novels. You don't have to read the one that gets posted all the time, and get filtered by the vocabulary and unorthodox plot structure.

>>20961618
You fell for the memes, Wolfe is shit and the only reason why he gets any praise is because fags who read him never read unreliable narrators before.

this is a bot. I have seen this exact post a dozen times

Revisit it in 15 years once you've learnt Latin and Ancient Greek and completed Finnegans Wake, then we can talk

That would explain things.

Can a Wolfe fan actually summarize the best aspects that make this novel so great and different from others in the genre?
>t. interested in reading the book

>>20963061
Before I do, tell me what genre you think this is.

>> No.20963106

If you're interested, go read it ffs. You don't need approval from some anonymous faggots on a God-forsaken website to grow some taste.

And then if I'm disappointed y'all just gonna say "Wolfe is a hack and you fell for LE MEME huehue". No, convince me first.

Science-fantasy. Not purely sci-fi and not purely fantasy either. I like this ambiguous concept actually.

Basically Wolfe throws in random words in his writing which once you've finished the book take on new meaning
Imagine that it's a poorly written fantasy book that makes absolutely no sense except in this case it's decently written but there's so much shit in there which just strikes you as being written by a terrible author but then you realise it was all deliberate
If you're into fan theories then you'll LOVE book of the new sun

The first volume kind of falls of near the end before picking up in the second book.
If you don't feel like committing to a tetralogy (since neither the story nor the themes conclude until the fourth book) you should try reading The Fifth Head of Cerberus first to get a grasp on Wolfe's style.
It consists of three~100 page novelle. The first one (the titular one) and especially the third one (V.R.T.) should clue you in on Wolfe's style. The middle one isn't that good, but the other two are good.
If you don't like either one, you can probably give up Wolfe. His novels have some differences to his short stories, but they all have certain elements that make them good, and if you don't like them it might not be worth it to read his novels.

Also, Short Sun>New Sun=Long Sun

I have made quite a few of these. Too bad the most reposted one is the Call of the Crocodile edition lmao

>> No.20966692

Wizard Knight
Latro in the Mist
Litany of the Long Sun
The Sorcerer's House
The Fifth Head of Cerberus

All great spec fiction novels. You don't have to get filtered by New Sun and complain.
