Any books on shunning fame? It seems to be an important part of being the greatest in one’s respective medium, like how Pynchon is the greatest writer or Daft Punk are the greatest musicians.

I know it’s bait but I’m still deeply irritated by what you’ve wrote. Good job anon.

He was drafted to run, (by the then relatively small electorate), there was no campaigning. Just one day was informed that he was named the next president and he calmly rode into town. I forget the details, but he put on a good show of humbleness.

One thing Daft Punk and Pynchon have in common is both their last releases were subpar for then.

Daft Punk are the Slipknot of pop music. If anyone over the age of 16 listens to them, they have to suffer some cognitive deficits.

It’s not a case of disagreeing with the statement that Daft Punk are the greatest musicians. It’s a case of the statement being objectively wrong.

They fun to listen and dance to. I'm not going to pretend they're high-brow but why can't I enjoy low-brow to? It's simple funky electronic pop songs. OP is a tard but Daft Punk are great.

I still don't get the appeal of LCD, I liked the instrumentals on their first album but everyone holds up their 2nd and 3rd but even all the 5 star reviews are like "yeah he isn't a good singer and the lyrics are shallow and nonsensical but". That's kinda a big deal man, why should music with a bad singer and bad lyrics get 5 stars? Either way it seems to me like nostalgia from people who heard it when they were younger as their first exposure to that kinda sound from only listening to guitar music, never listening to electronic dance before cause they pale in comparison to their influences, songs sampling kraftwerk but don't compare to em etc.

Anyway, daft punk is good but I feel like it is ultimately just marketing that got them where they are, they aren't so much shunning shame as much as it helped them with stage fright in the beginning (super normal and not at all unique to shy people, everyone gets stage fright) and the marketing that comes from having the masks helped make them stand out in a field where no one really focused on the face of an electronic musician, which carried over to people like deadmau5 and marshmellow however you spell it, I feel like if you really wanted to go the seclusion route for the misunderstood genius I'd say aphex twin, who refused to work with madonna cause that's all he would be known for and removed come to daddy from the radio cause he didnt want it at #1 as well as wanting to make his own sounds to be unique, helping to create IDM. Remove greatest and say like misunderstood genius or something, and if you like daft punk and wanna learn more about disco influenced electronic dance I can say to look more into 70s acts that helped make that grow like YMO and Giorgio Moroder, then hi-nrg and italo disco in early 80s europe, then chicago house and detroit techno in late 80s US, then Acid house, breakbeat hardcore, happy hardcore and jungle in early 90s UK into late 90s UK like garage as that all lead to daft punk.
