The nearest thing I would compare it to are smartypants meme authors like david foster wallace or whatever. Like those authors, he focuses on subtle things like character and hidden plotlines. Unlike those authors, he is pretty poetic, and also unlike them he plays it 100% serious rather than couching it in satire. Definitely underrated in 2022. I still prefer Gerald tho.
