I want to write about this event. I find it humorous that a man who uses an image of weariness and despair gets a job offer. I wonder why a company would choose the hire such man? Perhaps everyone else in the company is like him. Perhaps the image deeply resonated with the potential employer, they see such expression of emotion as a sign of a passionate worker. Maybe it was an honest mistake on the employer's part, just as it was on the man's part. I've wanted to write about another aspect of the corporate world for some time, perhaps I can fit this in it somehow.

I think you underestimate just how large an infinity is. That brief moment is nothing compared to an infinity of suffering. If anything such relief would only make suffering worse. Once given a taste of it, you would long for as you suffer. To feel pain is one thing, to feel pain when you have known of something other than pain is another.

Alright, maybe a lifetime. Suffering is a constant in nature, which we have not escaped, but twisted. When you see a homeless person, just imagine a cheetah ripping out an antelope's lungs. Is it worthy of pity? Yes, but is it evil? Idk, it's just the way things are. It's those small moments that matter, where the possibility of things being another way seems possible. The infinite, unsteady ocean contrasted above by the steady flight of the birds, before returning from vacation. The oversharing of emotions with a loved one to discover they feel the exact same way but had never heard anyone express it, before not talking to them for another month. Those brief moments where you feel united with all of mankind, where you want to preach like a child. Those moments, brief as childhood, are what I live for until I get my shit together

>>20889382
I agree with this, brief moments of peace are much more worthwhile within a lifetime of suffering rather than an eternity. For me it's less of moments of peace, but more for moments of beauty, although I suppose those two can be the same things. I find there is beauty to be found in suffering. Those moments when I am down, depressed, and I'm staring out a window on a rainy day while music plays. All of my senses were overwhelmed with beauty and emotion in that moment. It was nothing of pleasure or peace, but it was something worthwhile when suffering usually seems meaningless. That is what I live for.

>> No.20889438

>>20889313
I might do that, but I have to leave for class in a moment. I was thinking that I could fit such a moment in a novel I have an idea for, I don't want to speak too much about it because it is an idea I think has potential and don't want anyone to run away with that idea, but it has themes of suffering and absurdity (in both the existential and humorous sense) and sending a depressed frog to a potential employer could be the kind of thing that would happen in the novel.

Although I might just write the short story when I come back in a few hours.

I keep having visions of the Great Plains in the dead of winter. They are vast panoramas, not only visually but conceptually vast in my mind. The visions sweep from Oklahoma and the Red River and up through the Dakotas and even into Alberta and the boundless Arctic, and always as my thoughts run north into the latter I get a feeling like I am falling off a cliff, that my senses are escaping me and some vast force is throwing me around. Cut between and within these scenes I see a figure like Ghengis or Kublai Khan or a Qing emperor, sitting in perfect serenity, symmetric, against a backdrop of beaten gold leaf. What does it mean?? I am enjoying Carlyle's history of the French Revolution, although I am a little tired of his style.

There is a certain satisfaction I get from melancholy as well, usually from people-watching. I'm on the fence regarding suffering as beautiful or evil, but I know there's only one pragmatic choice unless I become okay with other cheetahs ripping my neck out. Beauty, in the sense of the sublime, can bring us peace because, in the wilderness, we see that piece of ourselves we have forgotten and, in that moment, we no longer desire and suffer for the inane and egregious monotony of daily life. Many people who thru-hike the Appalachian Trail and such develop depression upon returning to present society. Maybe we've become something we're not supposed to be. Maybe we never were. Maybe we're damned at birth. Do you have moments of peace?

There’s an interest in the fetish. It’s been around forever though. The main innovation these days is easy access for amateur porn. The decreasing forbiddeness of open relationships/cuckoldry will wear out with many, but it’s already just a niche crowd. The niche only looks huge because there’s so many of us. BMWF is still around or below 10% of relationships and a fraction of that produce the porn (though, again, amateur porn is increasing since the go-fund-me OnlyFans model opened up)

If I don't read those in several years, they are going to a used book store. It really annoys me how many books I've stacked up over the years intending to read. I am watching Dune again and it made me think about how here in the US we basically have the same clothes no matter what environment you're in. It's always stuff like t-shirt, jeans, pants, etc. Except when it's cold. Usually these are cotton, denim, wool, polyester, etc again. Why don't we really dress for the environment? I live in the US south. It's humid as hell and hot, and only ever getting worse due to climate change and all that. Now, because of this, my daily attire (when I can choose my own) is simply basketball shorts and a cotton t-shirt. They allow air to circulate when they can, but of course this does nothing for the humidity.

I really don't know where I'm going with this, but the thoughts did occur to me. Or like how it's sunny as hell sometimes but no one uses an umbrella like the Atreides Mentat does. I wish it wouldn't look weird to dress for your climate, at least here in America.

Listening to American folk music rends my heart. I've come to think that the only viable way to view the world today is that all is becoming, but I can't help also think we are losing something vital to the human species. I think we are already damned and in that is a certain freedom. As deceased park ranger Edward Abbey says in his book that's really a journal: "they are simply the usual banal, unimaginative if well-intentioned proposals made everywhere, over and over again, in reply to the demand for a solution to the national and international miseries of mankind." Maybe there is no solution and we're all running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

I found these quote on an Amazon review of Martin Buber's book Tales of the Hasidim.

Rabbi Zusya, God's fool, expounded these words as follows.
Whoever is bold in his holiness, may descend to hell in order to raise
what is base. He may roam about in the alleys and market-places and
need not fear evil. But he who is shame-faced, who lacks boldness,
must keep to the heights of paradise, to studying and praying. He
must beware of coming into contact with evil.

The Rabbi of Lublin said: "I love the wicked man who knows he is wicked more
then the righteous man who knows he righteous. But concerning the wicked
who consider themselves righteous, it said: 'They do not turn even on the threshold of Hell.'
For they think they are being sent to Hell to redeem the souls of others !!!"

I was going to reply to this post as me LARPing as a mighty khan but instead I'll just tell you that I've always though the great plains of America was a similar environment to the steppes of Eurasia and the various native tribes weren't too different from the nomads of the steppes, even if horses weren't introduced to them until the 1500s. I've always thought that if history turned out differently, there would be "khanate" across the great plains of north America, sandwiched between the mountains to the east and west. I don't know what your visions mean, but it's interesting to know that I'm not the only one who thinks that the great plains are like the steppes, even if your understanding is a bit more mystical than mine.

While we’re teethposting:
I went to a new dentist last month, and she insisted that I had eight cavities that needed to be filled. I immediately was skeptical, because I brush and floss religiously, and have never needed a single filling before. The whole dental office seemed sketchy, and the dentist was evasive when I tried to ask questions. I suspected that she was just trying to maximize her payout from my insurance company, so I went to get a second opinion today.

The second dentist said that I only have one small cavity that needs filling, and two other barely observable lesions that she’ll just keep an eye on for now, because they look exactly the same as they did on my old x-rays from 2020 (which the first dentist never even asked to see). Otherwise, my teeth are totally fine, and she was horrified that the first dentist would suggest that I needed 8 fillings. Moral of the story: trust your gut, and be VERY skeptical of greedy immigrant dentists who did their training in India.

Also, if you have tons of cavities, you should probably use high-fluoride toothpaste and start flossing regularly.

If John Alan Smith is a photographer he becomes "JAS Photography". Why not "John Alan Photography?" why depersonalize it but not go the whole hog like "Pretty Portraits Photography" or "Stunning Photos"?
Is it the idea that the initialism makes them seem more 'corporate' and thus professional? Is it the hope that at some point in the future they will grow the business and sell it, and they don't want to have their name tied to it? If so, why not come up with a fun name that also succinctly explains what they do.

A prophecy:
"There shall come over the whole earth an intense darkness lasting three days and three nights. Nothing can be seen, and the air will be laden with pestilence which will claim mainly, but not only, the enemies of religion. It will be impossible to use any man-made lighting during this darkness, except blessed candles. He, who out of curiosity, opens his window to look out, or leaves his home, will fall dead on the spot. During these three days, people should remain in their homes, pray the Rosary and beg God for mercy. All the enemies of the Church, whether known or unknown, will perish over the whole earth during that universal darkness, with the exception of a few whom God will soon convert. The air shall be infected by demons who will appear under all sorts of hideous forms."

It's been over a year, how do I have sex again? When I was in a relationship I would have sex like up to 8 times a week. The worst of it is? I crave even platonic intimacy. The few times I've had friends who I've respected and we've been able to discuss things about values, about psychology, discuss "whys" and "shoulds" of the world and life have been very few and far between. Most women I've had any intimacy with have been attracted to that part of me. I miss being able to actually "speak my mind" which is why I hang out in this thread.

Idealization maybe, but not deification.
Deification means you're ascribing to them some kind of supernatural or superhuman agency. That is different from idealizing their qualities as being superlatives, or even superhuman. For example, beauty. That seems like the obvious one. You can idealize a lover's beauty, but you're not for a moment saying they have the capacity to grant good looks or to make others ugly. Whereas you might say Aphrodite or a god of beauty could indeed have that agency.
indeed, the idealization would mean their agency is purely passive. Their beauty, their kindness could lead others to take action by example or inspiration. But it is not active in as much as they have some supernatural power to change people's minds directly.
Helen's face, as the cliche goes, launched a thousand ships. But it's not Helen cast a spell that inspired the men. It was passive on her part (I think Gorgias argued that point).
Gods have power of intervention.

I use the word deification to denote the power which the other person, the beloved, has over your life. It can be a truly god-like influence, able to inspire you to the greatest heights as well as drag you down to deepest despair. It goes without saying that there is nothing literally supramundane about this power, unless you would consider human feelings to be transcendental to the material world.

>> No.20892881

>>20892873
Hmmm at the risk of getting pedantic I don't think I would consider that deification. Unless, you schizophrenically are ascribing to your lover some kind of conscious intervention in your own thought processes.
I understand what you mean, the influence they have over you, what they inspire, what their presence or even the thought of them appears extraordinary, magical, a step beyond. I get that but it's magnitude of influence as opposed to intentional intervention. But at least to my understand of what godhood is, that's not compatible.

Maybe. But just because something is intended doesn't mean it is achieved. In that regard I understand poetry to be something that uses form and style in a way that intentionally calls attention to itself. I don't think hyperbole is necessarily enough. Your question seemed, at least to my eyes, like a rather standard question, not a exercise in formal or stylistic adornment.
If that is the case, my unsolicited recommendation would be not to ask a question, but to write a poem.

It's an important issue to communicate and simp won't process anything if he feels threatened. There are two major reasons why we can enjoy 4chan without cancerous feminine presence that has ruined the rest of the internet:
1. Anonymity - they can't get Chad dick, money or simps here. That's why women stick to camwhoring and cosplaying boards.
2. "Misogyny" and racism - women function on conformist hivemind, they're trained to throw histrionic hissy fits when encountering such behavior. Obviously those aren't genuine, deeply held beliefs; if she hooks up with a big-dicked chud who keeps fucking her brains out for three weeks she'll start joking about kikes and niggers herself.
