Why do young people are bored reading Tolkien? It is common to read complaints about his extensive descriptions of landscapes or objects. Does it have anything to do with anxiety and notification addiction?

Because the people complaining are lazy retards who have probably never read a book in their life. The Hobbit is a children’s book and so are basically the trilogy, so if they’re struggling and they are adults then there isn’t much hope.

These complaints about Tolkien are nothing new and have been a major criticisms of his writing from day one.

They don't appreciate the simple/finer things in life.

Most young people reading Tolkien are coming to him after reading fantasy literature written in his wake, sometimes a great deal of it. A lot of fantasy took Tolkien as a template and amped up the action, added more dragons and whizz-bang magic, and made the main character a bland cut-out for the reader to insert themselves into. It’s a shame, but considering how kid’s brains are wired, it’s hardly surprising that they gravitate to the worse stuff because it’s more exciting.
