If only just started getting into reading again and I never remember retaining as much information than I did about five years ago. Like - the books were good and in learned some thing, but I couldn’t really say I ‘got’ much of them.

I read through a good amount of Russian lit and essential classics when I was about 20, but now at 27 the experience feels so much different. It feels like my iq increased or something.

Perhaps you were not very interested at the time or something. Do take note that your brain does not fully develop until 25, and so maybe that is also why.

I am unable to read regularly unless I am in a state of mental stability. I haven't been in a state like that for years now but one day I will be so I guess what you're describing is going to happen to me at some point
