I actually liked it more than "The Brothers Karamazov". I believe this is mostly due to the fact my reading of the Brothers was interrupted so many times it took me a while to finish. His fever dreams can get a little boring, but I highly recommend reading it. I just found out "Columbo" was based on the Magistrate Petrovich.

Crime and punishment is one of my top 10 favorite books. im an old man ive read allot if books.

I have yet to read C&P (lol) although it is on my reading list. It is generally considered to be one the best books of all time, so it's definitely worth reading if you give the slightest damn about literature. From what I hear it is a book that focuses on the psychology of a brutal criminal who believes he has done nothing wrong. That is something that interests me, but I can see why some might find it boring. The protagonist is supposedly one of those "literally me" characters, as well. If this synopsis interests you then maybe you should give it a read. I would trust your mom's judgement on this one.
