I remember reading 1984 in high school and being really fucking mad the scene in the Macintosh computer of the sporty girl throwing a hammer at the scene during the two minutes hate didn't actually happen in the book. I thought it was supposed to be a surprising climax but instead it was just "yeah uhh the party has an evil mind-control fear machine so everyone will lay down and die for it no matter what lol". cringe.
