can't decide what book to read

have a stack that i want to get through but then i've got a few that i've tried in the past but just couldn't get into
first stack is:

>assorted short stories of faulkner
>purgatory
just finished malcolm x's autobiography and i really liked it. not sure what i want to read next, nothing seems really appealing

I have all the information I could ever need at my finger tips, the internet, and I don't know what to read. People in 1700 and 1800 had to fucking physically gather the specific books and study and to make progress and make the world a better place, and they managed to do that but I can't and all I have to do is google a single word. This is how brain damaged we have become

Faulkner, I remember vividly, needs a lot of concentration to fully understand and I usually read at work with little time
