What are some novels that feature strong male figures or a strong father figure?

If you want fiction the Drenai books by David Gemmel. He literally based the protagonist on his step-father.

If you want non-fiction read Anabasis by Xenophon. The Greeks are greatly outnumbered and trapped a thousand miles behind enemy lines in Persia after losing a battle and the only way to get home is by fighting their way out.

Thanks will look into these.

What about in a less super masculine warrior sense and in a more modern pillar of stability sense?

There's several, be more specific.

Let's say I grew up without a strong male role model. I'm looking more for a character who can be emulated in the modern age rather than one who goes around slaying enemies and stuff. Which is still generic but hopefully helps narrow it.

Rhett Butler from Gone With The Wind, Robinson Crusoe, Harry Morgan from To Have And Have Not, Sam Spade from The Maltese Falcon, Atticus Finch from To Kill A Mockingbird, the Uncle (forgot his name) in Turgenev's Fathers and Sons, the Dad in The Road by corncob... Idk just throwing stuff out there.
Outside of literary fiction, try the New Testament Epistles or read about Ernest Shackleton and other brave men of history.
