Here is where he's wrong, because American film, experimental music, and a fair amount of American literature, is quite exceptional. But I wonder if this quote is being taken out of context and whether he would agree with a lot of American art being culturally significant beyond simple entertainment value. He is arguably correct in his assessment of popular culture and media trends, though. Is that dissimilar from the majority of media produced by other nations though? Regardless, his focus is on American entertainment.
