It's just 1984 for the 50 Shades of Grey audience

I'm finding a hard time bringing myself to read this, it's on the back of my reading list. It's disappointing because Atwood is a pearl clutcher as much as the people who allude to the book in daily life. I suppose there is some value in seeing the perspective in fiction if I wanted to write such a character.

Why force yourself? Just skip this feminist propaganda trash

Two reasons. As far as I know it has institutionalized rape and I don't think I've read any books with that so it's interesting if not arousing. Also like I said, it lets me see the extent of feminist hyperbolic slippery slopes in a fictional setting without having to listen to it irl which I barely have the strength for.

I think the argument could be made that it is accurately predicting the direction modern society is moving towards as much as 1984 has. Whether you agree with it or not you can’t deny that Margaret Atwood sees the big picture and she’s being proven right every passing day

>feminist hyperbolic slippery slopes
Since feminism is a political ideology, then I don't think 'hyperbolic slippery slopes' is very apt here. That'd be like saying that nazism had some hyperboles that made things a bit difficult.
Maybe I take the whole language thing too seriously though.

Lol if that's "institutionalised rape" then might as well call the marital duties a wife has towards her husband "rape". Oh wait!! The modern western world doesn't believe in compulsion of marital sex at all. They've effectively killed the institution of marriage and the institution of family goes down with it.
