Does anyone else sometimes visualize actors when they’re reading?

Count of Monte Cristo
>Mads Mikkelsen
Abbé Faria
Anthony Hopkins
>Danglars
Jason Alexander
>Fernand
Brad Pitt
>Villefort
Murray Melvin

I imagine them as people, not actors. I don't watch enough television or film to be familiar with any.

No, I have an actual imagination. Why would I imagine a 19th century Frenchman as a Sino-Scandinavian mutt like Mikkelsen?

But have you…actually read the book? The count’s ethnicity is a puzzle to everyone and culturally he’s orientalist

That's actually kinda sad. Your parents failed you

I did that when reading Call of the Crocodile. I imagined Nic Cage as Joe.

Holy shit I always have done this but this thread made me realise the last couple months I haven't been at all. The main difference is that I didn't renew my Netflix and stopped watching films/shows through any other way.

Only when I watched a movie and later read the book (again), but especially for the Count of Montechristo your Choices couldn't be further from what I imagined these people to look in my head

Really? Monte Cristo is described as very exotic looking, pale and vampire like. Abbé Faria as wise from suffering, extremely intelligent and perceptive but mistaken for crazy. Danglars evidently unimposing and not magnetic, Villefort as squeaky, very think and prissy, and Fernand as evidently athletic and charismatic but less than intelligent
