What holds us back most of all is larping about the past and fetishizing America. It's not weird for an outsider to think most works on a 20th century dictator are biased. So it makes a lot of sense for him to have a request such as this. Yea at the end of the day the version doesn't matter. You will notice heavy bias anyway. Honestly, go to a library since buying a book for this is kinda useless.

Just download books and read them, if after the mountains of books that are free online or in your library if yours is good, you still think you outsmart them all and you are certain they are all biased, ask 4chan so a person can share a meme of a frog to you and maybe youll feel better, no offense.
(You can read the writings of people who were directly involved with franco or lived at that time, [or newspapers if you speak spanish], you can hardly go wrong with those [although obviously most will be biased, but you'll understand the timeperiod better, and those are the main sources historians use anyway])

That being said, the most objective biographies I've found on Franco have weirdly been written in Dutch so take that as you will. Any Dutch writer on the civil war will be good.
