Is Terry Pratchett the most reddit writer ever? I feel like he's even worse than Stephen King who at least has some degree of self-consciousness as far as cringe goes because he's just so degenerate inside

>> No.20689749

>>20689717
Terry is good because his humor comes off as natural on top of discworld being an amazingly rich setting for something so generic and has great characters for the type of novels hes writing.

>> No.20689794

>>20689717
He was just a nice old man telling funny stories, it's not that deep.

>> No.20690089

>Reddit writer
What does that even mean? Jesus Christ, Terry began writing before Reddit even exist, yet he’s somehow Reddit? I swear, people like you just like to postulate online.

>> No.20690113

>>20689717
"Reddit writer" would be stupid same jokes told over and over again, chasing political trends without any real guiding insight, a sense of unwarranted superiority and righteousness while failing to prove either in every opportunity given, and pretending to have refined tastes while being obsessed with the most mainstream media and searching for others to explain the meaning of it to them.

>> No.20690124

Every faggot here already hates him. Him and Douglass Adams. If it could be considered """leddit""", some fag here will hate it. I like both though so I don't know bro.

>Am I the only one who has never liked Terry Pratchett?
It might be possible. His books are on another level of soulful. Opposite of King besides some gems of his.
What Pratchett have you read?

I found him comfy, not particularly funny but more because my sense of humor isn’t in that vein.

>> No.20690444

>>20690395
This thread is asking opinion on how worthwhile his writing is and your response to the query is his politics so that’s a reasonable inference unless we apply drastic formalism to posts in which case I suppose there is no reason to even presume your pronoun referred to Pratchett

Anon, that's a man.

You don't have to "cancel" someone to ignore his work. Also, his son is a tranny so he failed as a parent and likely his mind was polluted.

There's no such thing as "trans women." You can't biologically transform into something else that you are not. A man's a man, a woman's a woman, and a sicko's a sicko.

Terry's son can call himself whatever he wants, at the end of the day he's a man and he will never a woman.

Not every novel needs to be so dark and serious, comedy writing is a serious relief and a joy to read if written well

He is the Douglas Adams of fantasy for sure

>> No.20691713

>>20689717
I can understand it. He's popular, but it's still a niche he wrote in. I wouldn't say he's "the most Reddit writer ever", but I can see how you would arrive at that conclusion. A lot of his humor relies on wit, and there's an obviously left wing liberal slant to his writing. That's the sort of stuff Reddit indeed loves (well, they prefer authoritarianism, but they pretend not to)

But he was actually good. His wit was on point, his points were witty. Discworld is a smart skewering of Fantasy as a genre, while also being great Fantasy in its own right, and doing a good job of commenting on real life.

He is, Neil Gaiman confirmed it.
I don't think it was so much him putting up a front as trying to be civil, though. If you let your rage out all the time, you'll be in a mad house pretty quick.
