All literature is fictional in the way that fiction does not exist. Fiction exists, or we can talk about literary novels of some kind; and what are they, and who makes up which? And at least a significant percentage of those "literary novels" which have been created cannot even be seen as part of our tradition by their creators when asked (because of some supposed incompatibility between formality in writing and cultural value, see The Madhouse Effect). In my mind, much non-fiction consists of things written or presented as though they had truth claims.
