Think of it this way. Nonfiction directly communicates ideas to you. Sometimes, it is difficult to communicate an idea, especially in a profound and meaningful way, through the use of brute language descriptions. Fiction can communicate things to you using prose that bypasses the insufficiencies of denotation. People have their preferences, but you are missing out on a lot of truth by tabling fiction altogether.

Can words be art? If yes then fiction can meet requirements of art and give insights like other art can.

People need to come to terms with this more. Fiction and poetry are ART. They're written art, like painting and sculpture are visual art, like music is auditory art. For some reason people are reluctant to classify literature as art. I geuss because they tend to not think of the written word as being artistic, and use "art" purely to mean the visual and auditory arts.
