Can you imagine Marie Kondo offering to wash your penis? After the initial embarrassment she somehow gets you undressed. She does not undress, but she rolls her sleeves and soaps you up, starts massaging your cock, smiling and doing that Japanese thing where they nod a little bit without saying anything. Soon she's on her knees working it, and there is no doubt now that she's just jerking you off, then as you get fully erect she wraps both her delicate manicured hands around your massive shaft, her eyes look up at you for a second then she folds it in half with a loud CRACK

Her books did actually change my life (not the manga obviously). Spark Joy is a really good companion to the original book. It had an immediate effect but also over time I took in the philosophy of it and it's fundamentally changed my relationship with stuff and joy in life. There's so much fucking consumerism in the US and people sometimes get offended when I'm not hanging onto their garbage or won't accept something they bought for themselves for me. Additionally the folding does suck and I didn't do it for the first 3-4 years after reading the book but now I literally fold all my shirts and pants and shorts this way. I hated the folding, not sure why I converted over to doing it. Now I basically feel weird if I don't do it because it IS a better method of folding than most other ways. I don't often do the socks or underwear that way though, that seems like a waste of time. It's also marginally harder.

But yeah no chance in hell I buy that manga and the show disappointingly, was absolute garbage.

Pic related is unironically a great companion piece, and is a more blunt male-brained approach than Marie Kondo's soft animism.
Including such pieces of advice as:
>get rid of your tv and watch everything on a smartphone vr headset
>get rid of your chairs
>keep a single handtowel for drying off after the shower
>get rid of things even if they spark joy
Few people will probably get much out of such an extreme stance, but the book is really good at getting you to examine how many things you can actually afford to get rid of.

Pic related, while aimed at boomers with enough money to afford remodels, also has a lot of good shit about organizing and making tiny spaces feel bigger.

Anyway, I've been on a minimalism kick this past year and shit especially works if you have some ADD adjacent mental illness. I've routinely lost and misplaced shit every single day for my entire life, and now that I downsized I can scour the entire apartment in 3 minutes and find something even if I have no idea where it is. Would recommend.

My question on folding clothes.
Doesn't it still wrinkle, just where you fold it?
I'm not advocating for my pile, I just hate thinking about the little folds that don't fold right. Like if you just fold your shirt in half and in half again you don't have just 4 seams. There's a little wrinkle that develops and it always bothers me to think about when I'm packing clothes in a suitcase. Not because I don't want people to see the wrinkle, but because it's not as nice a fold as a piece of paper.

>> No.20604505

>>20603575
It depends on material, but when I unfold my shirts they don't have any wrinkles, or the wrinkles quickly disappear after I leave the shirt hanging for a minute. As long as you fold it nicely and don't let it sit long under lots of pressure, then it should be okay.
If it really bothers you, there are these vertical steam irons that one can use to quickly iron out their clothes while it hangs, eliminating the need for a board. Depending on the type, some can even fit into a travel bag.

Kondo doesn't tell you to own nothing, but to own what makes you happy. Instead of hoarding things you think you will need but never really do, go for stuff that you know will enhance the experience right now. Like when women impulsively buy clothes on sales, only to later realize it doesn't fit them quite right, so it gets tossed into the back of the closet and the pile keeps growing. Instead, they should buy less, but buy smarter.

I threw a ton of books away after I went to a literary mentor’s home and saw his collection of 5000+ books. I realized that 95% of those books he will never get around to reading again. They have an old papery smell and attract bugs unless you do a ton of work to treat them and periodically air them out. Plus it’s just depressing to have books crammed in ever nook and piled on every flat surface. It’s evidence that you isolated yourself from the world.

I keep 50 books that I want to always have close at hand, and if there are other books I want to read I get them from the public library or buy a paperback that I throw away or donate when I’m finished.
